Festival en Chanson de Petite-Vallée, Petite-Vallée and Grande-Vallée, June 28 to July 7, 2018
Welcoming over 15,000 festival-goers every year, the Petite-Vallée song festival takes place in an enchanting site that provides an intimate experience with the artists. Although the festival’s usual venue, the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge, was destroyed in a fire last year, the event will go on in the same location under a big tent set up on a point that overlooks the sea. The festival organizers have a knack for catching talent on the way up and will introduce you to promising up-and-coming artists. The eclectic program also includes seasoned performers from across Québec: this summer, come and listen to Marie-Pierre Arthur and Klô Pelgag (both from Gaspésie), as well as Louis-Jean Cormier, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Marjo and Philippe Brach.
Festi-Plage de Cap-d’Espoir, July 25 to 28, 2018
Enjoy an unforgettable experience during this music festival on a beach by the sea! With both feet in the sand, you can watch performances by big names in Québec music, including Les Brothers (with Gaspesian Jonny Arsenault), Patrice Michaud (also from Gaspésie), Les Cowboys Fringants and Éric Lapointe, as well local bands and DJs who will have you dancing under the stars. The festival also includes fireworks, bonfires, nautical activities, inflatable games, volleyball and family entertainment.
Festival Éole en musique, Matane, August 9 to 11, 2018
This pop music festival has become a must in the region. It takes place in Parc des Îles, in downtown Matane, and offers festival-goers very affordable passes for high-quality shows. The festival also includes comedy shows and activities for kids.
Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, Gaspé, August 9 to 12, 2018
Offering 4 days of activities showcasing world music, the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde is one of the most popular events in Gaspésie. Colourful and festive, the event will delight families and night owls alike with a wide variety of activities: major shows under the big tent, entertainment, parades and kiosks on Rue de la Reine, performances in bars, etc. Every year, the festival presents a show at sunrise (at 4:45 a.m.!) at Cap Bon Ami, in Forillon National Park. This year, this incredibly beautiful event—worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime!—will feature Alash, a throat-singing band from Tuva.
Shigawake Agricultural Fair and Music Festival, Shigawake, August 16 to 19, 2018
Until recently, this event, which takes place in a small village of 340 inhabitants, was a well-guarded secret. However, more and more well-known musicians and fans are talking about it! Launched in 2009 to mark the 100th anniversary of the village’s agricultural fair, the Shigawake Music Festival offers an eclectic and high-quality line-up in a friendly and intimate atmosphere. Over the years, many folk, country, indie rock and other musicians have performed at the festival, including the Barr Brothers and Patrick Watson. The event also includes activities for the whole family: competitions of all kinds, a market selling local products, etc.
