Road trip in Gaspésie by electric car – The Valley

Travel in Gaspésie by electric car, yes it is now possible! Consider this 5-day itinerary* to tour the Gaspésie without ever running out of battery.

Day 5 – The Valley: from Matapédia to Saint-Moïse

Causapscal: Salmon fishing and history
Recognized for salmon fishing and quadding, La Vallée de la Matapédia (Matapédia Valley) offers beautiful countryside landscapes!

A stopover in Causapscal will allow you to discover the salmon in its natural environment. In fact, the Site des Chutes et marais not only includes an interpretation centre, but also underwater cameras displaying images of the river, and trails to access the waterfalls and see the salmon jump to run up the river.

A little further along in the heart of the village, a large park will allow you to picnic, rest, and admire the fishermen at work. Just steps away, the historic Matamajaw site will retell the days when wealthy and well-known fishermen frequented the waters of the area. The Maison du Dr. Joseph-Frenette will share the life of a country doctor of a time when he traveled through the Valley from one end to the other to meet his patients, summer and winter. Beautiful discoveries to occupy your afternoon.

Towards Amqui
When back on the road again, keep your eyes open for directions to the Chute à Philomène. With an impressive height of of 33 m, descend to the foot of the waterfall to admire it – be sure to save some energy to go down (and back!) the hundred steps.

Head in the direction of Amqui to spend the night at the Auberge L’Ambassadeur. This 4-star establishment offers, in addition to an electric charging terminal, a restaurant, body care services, and the opportunity to relax in a great spa under the stars. What more could you ask for this stay?
