Travel in Gaspésie by electric car, yes it is now possible! Consider this 5-day itinerary* to tour the Gaspésie without ever running out of battery.

Day 4 –Chaleur Bay: from Shigawake to Restigouche

History, river, beach, and much more
Chaleur Bay is a large sector. Two towns have recharge facilities for electric cars. In Paspébiac, make the most of your stop to visit the Site historique du Banc-de-Pêche-de-Paspébiac. During your visit, you will meet costumed characters with colorful accents that will retell the life of the fishermen and inhabitants of Gaspésie at a time when cod fishing and its trade were the heart of Gaspesian activities. From the warehouse to the general store, including the boat workshop, you can relive and discover the life of a time gone by.

Take the road again and stop in one of the following villages for dinner. Bonaventure, with the Pub St-Joseph, the sea side restaurant, and the fisherman’s fish market – dining room have something to satisfy you.

A visit to the Bioparc, the Musée acadien, a journey down the river, the discovery of a cave, or a quiet time reading on the beach are all great ways to enjoy your afternoon. Riôtel Bonaventure can also welcome you and allow you to charge your car if you want to stop for the night.

Park, hiking, fishing and seaside pleasures
If you choose to continue your journey, New Richmond is the next town in the area to offer an electric charging terminal. In town, the Parc de Pointe Taylor has something to occupy your afternoon. Between sea and river, you can relax, enjoy rollerblading, or rent one of the boats to play on the water. Le Francis will allow you to sleep in town and plug in your electric car. The restaurant at the hotel offers particularly delicious dishes.

For those who choose to continue their journey, Maria, Carleton-sur-Mer, and Nouvelle offer several beautiful activities. Discovering the fossils at Miguasha, visiting the lookout at the top of Mont-Saint-Joseph, hiking, walking by the sea, and relaxing on the beach, taking an outing on a catamaran or boat excursion to fish striped bass are just a few examples. You will be able to stay at the Manoir Belle Plage in Carleton-sur-Mer, a magnificent 4‑star hotel with dining featuring local flavors. If you prefer to continue your journey, you can spend the night at the Motel Interprovincial in Pointe-à-la-Croix. Charming newly renovated motel, family cuisine and charging station.
